Not Guilty

#MOMT258

How can a guilty person be declared not guilty? God does this every day when sinners turn to Him and put their trust in Jesus Christ.

Full text of tract:

After weeks of testimony and days of deliberation, the end is finally near. Silence sweeps the courtroom: it’s time to read the verdict. The defendant, attorneys, spectators, reporters—and the whole nation—breathlessly anticipate the outcome of this sensational trial. “NOT GUILTY.” A collective gasp reverberates from one end of the country to the other: how could someone who so many people thought was guilty be declared “not guilty”?
We’ve all witnessed this scene play out many times. From the comfort of our homes, it seems easy to know who is guilty and who is not. Wouldn’t it be so much easier if the accused would simply plead “guilty” and allow everyone to avoid the time and expense of a trial? But have you ever thought about what you would do if the tables were turned? What if you were accused of a crime? What if you were on trial?

A Serious Offense

Most of us are so quick to defend ourselves against the slightest accusation; would we be willing to plead “guilty” to a serious offense? For most of us, this is merely a hypothetical question—or is it? Do you realize that all of us have been charged with an offense worse than a misdemeanor or felony? The Bible tells us that “all have sinned” and “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 3:23; 6:23). You may want to dismiss these charges, or argue that you’re “not guilty,” but remember that God, the righteous Judge, sees and knows everything—our actions and our thoughts.

The Righteous Judge

The Bible tells us about a courtroom scene which will take place in a coming day. God, the righteous Judge, will open His books of evidence and hold a trial for each person who stands before Him (Revelation 20:11-15). Here’s the harsh reality of God’s courtroom: no charges are ever dropped, and no defendant is ever acquitted. That’s right: everyone who stands before God on that day will be declared “guilty” and condemned to the Lake of Fire for eternity.
We have all broken God’s law in one way or another—and God keeps track of those offenses. How many sins do you think are recorded in God’s books for you? It’s probably more than you think, especially when you consider that “the thought of foolishness is sin” and “to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin” (Proverbs 24:9; James 4:17). Even if you only sin once per day, it really adds up! My point is that none of us have any hope of standing before God and convincing Him that we’re totally innocent. What can we do? Is there a way out?

The Best Lawyer

Yes, thank God, there is! Jesus Christ wants to be your “lawyer.” Because He is the Son of God—fully God and fully man—He stands in a unique position to intercede for us with His Father. Also, because He is totally sinless, and because He suffered the penalty of sin—in our place—on Calvary’s cross, He has satisfied the righteous demands of both the law and the Judge.
How can we receive a full pardon from God? If we plead “guilty,” fully acknowledging our sinfulness to God, and put our trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sin, God will declare us “not guilty”! We will be “justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24). When we believe that Jesus Christ died for us and rose again, His righteousness becomes our righteousness, our sins are all washed away, and we stand before God fully justified—not guilty!

How Do You Plead?

How about you? Have you humbly accepted God’s offer of salvation through Jesus Christ? I urge you to turn to God before it’s too late, before you leave this world in your sin and face Him as the righteous Judge. If you refuse Jesus in this life, there is no way of escape.
“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him” (Romans 5:8,9).

I Must Tell You...

#MOMT259

Share the good news of God's love with everyone you meet! This tract takes a unique approach in presenting the Gospel and is perfect for distributing to individuals that you may only meet in passing.

Full text of tract:

I may never meet you again, so there is something I must tell you right now. It is so important that I would be remiss to not share it with you. Yet it is so simple that you can read it in just a few minutes. It is a message you may not like, but it is a message of love. You may try to ignore it today, but it will affect you forever.
First of all, let me emphasize that this message is absolutely true, because it is a message from God, and He cannot lie. When God makes a promise, you can rest upon it, because His promises never fail. God will not force you to believe this message—that is your choice—but He will hold you responsible for having heard it.
Lastly, let me tell you that it is a personal message to you. It brings you to the place of decision. You must either accept it or reject it. You must either say “I will” or “I will not.” You cannot be neutral.
Here, then, is the message. It is a quotation from God’s word, the Holy Bible. Read it several times:
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
Have you ever heard such wonderful words as these? Just think for a moment what they say! They reveal three astounding facts:
First, “God so loved the world.” Since you are in the world, it means that He loves you. It also means that God loves sinners, because that’s what we all are: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). God says that you are a sinner, and if you are honest, you will agree. While God certainly loves you, He hates your sin. Sin will keep you out of Heaven, because God is holy and He must punish sin. Thus, a loving God must find a holy way of saving sinners; otherwise the sinner must pay for his own sins by spending eternity in Hell.
The second great fact is this: “He gave His only begotten Son.” The first statement tells you that God loved you; this statement tells you how much He loved you. He loved you so much that He gave His only begotten Son! Do you know what that means? It means that the Lord Jesus Christ suffered on the cross of Calvary so that you might be saved. He shed His blood so that your sins might be put away. He died for you so that you might live in Heaven forever. Someone must pay the penalty of sin—either you, or a sinless substitute. God gave His Son to stand in your place: “Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18).
Now for the third tremendous fact: “Whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Were better words than these ever spoken? Think of it! God gives eternal life to those who trust in Christ. The Savior has finished the work: He has died, has risen from the grave and gone back into heaven, and God has accepted Him. This simply means that you should:
  1. Confess that you are a sinner in need of a Savior
  2. Realize that Christ is willing and able to meet your need
  3. Trust Him as your Savior and Lord
This is the message which I had to tell you. Now you must make a decision. Will you accept Him or reject Him? Will you believe on Him or will you refuse Him? I may never meet you again on earth, but I hope I meet you in Heaven. If you will accept the sinner’s Savior, then you will surely be saved. Jesus said, “Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37). Come to Christ today!

How Many Birthdays?

#MOMT257

How many birthdays have you had? It's not enough to be born once. This tract focuses on the importance of having a spiritual birthday by being born again. A perfect tract for any day of the year, not just birthdays!

Full text of tract:

Your birthday is a special day that is all about you. It’s a time of fun and celebration—a day to enjoy special treats and open presents.

How Many Birthdays?

How many birthdays have you had? I don’t mean how many times have you blown out candles or gotten a year older. I mean, how many times have you been born? You see, even if you celebrate your birthday 5 times, 10 times, or even 100 times, it’s just one birthday—the day that you were born into the world.
Jesus talked about being born, and said that it was important to have two birthdays: one physical birthday, and one spiritual birthday. He told a man named Nicodemus that he needed to be born again. Jesus said to him, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). You might be wondering what Jesus meant—don’t feel bad, Nicodemus wondered, too.

Born Two Times?

What does it mean to be born again? It has to do with spiritual life. Each of us enters this world as a sinner. Sin is doing bad things and things that are not what God wants us to do. The Bible says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Our sin keeps us from God.
The Bible goes on to say that we are all spiritually “dead in trespasses and sins” (Ephesians 2:1). This is why being born again is absolutely necessary if you want to spend eternity with God in Heaven.

The Good News

Being born again is all about having our sins washed away and receiving new life from God. How can we do that? The good news is that God loves us so much that He sent His Son (Jesus) to take away our sins and give us new life. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
When Jesus died on the cross, He took the punishment that we deserve for all of the bad things that we have done (and will do) during our lives. Then He rose from the dead to prove that he can save us and give us eternal life.

What About You?

Have you had your second birthday? If you’re not sure, now is the time to confess that you are a sinner, believe that Jesus died on the cross for you, and put your total trust in Jesus to take you to Heaven. When you do that, it’s your second birthday! God promises that when you call out to Him and accept His free gift of salvation, He will take away your sins, give you new life, and someday take you to Heaven to live with Him.
“The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).
Happy birthday, yes two!
   Only one will not do.
Trust Christ as your Savior,
   And then you’ll have two!

Have You Found a Hiding Place?

#MOMT260

Looking for an escape from the pressures of life? The good news of the Gospel is that God has provided a hiding place through Jesus, who died to give us refuge from the wrath and judgment of God.

Full text of tract:

ANXIETY! STRESS! WORRY! TROUBLE! UNCERTAINTY! PRESSURE! CONFUSION!
These words express what life has become for many people in the world today. In order to escape this hectic life, many people try to find a hiding place from the pressures of everyday living. This hiding place may be a vacation, a sport, a hobby, or even exercise. Whatever it is, it offers an escape, a chance to “get away from it all.” As often as they can, they retreat to this hiding place in order to find rest and relaxation for their bodies and minds.
Some of these people also feel they have a much deeper need spiritually before God. Realizing that they are not what they should be, they attempt to find a hiding place to shelter them from the wrath of God. But who, or what, can be a hiding place from a holy and righteous God?
Can works be a hiding place? After all, if one has done her best, won’t God accept her? The Bible says: “There is none that doeth good, no, not one” (Romans 3:12). “All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). Clearly, good works cannot be a hiding place from God.
“And a Man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.” (Isaiah 32:2)
What about the law? If one keeps the Ten Commandments which God gave to man, will this be a hiding place from God’s wrath? Hear again what God declares: “By the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His [God’s] sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin” (Romans 3:20). “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all” (James 2:10). The law cannot be a hiding place. Rather, it condemns us all, showing what great sinners we really are.
Does religion provide refuge? Hear what the Lord Jesus told a religious leader of the Jews: “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7). Outward religious pursuits cannot be a hiding place; our need is on a deeper level.
But thanks be to God, HE has provided a Hiding Place for us that shields us from His holy wrath against sin. As Isaiah 32:2 tells us, this Hiding Place is a Person—God’s beloved Son, Jesus Christ. He is the Holy One “who gave Himself for our sins,” bearing the wrath of a Holy God (Galatians 1:4). Now He is risen from the dead, and offers forgiveness and eternal life to all who will put their trust in Him. Yes, He is the true Hiding Place from the storms of judgment about to fall upon this wicked world.
He will be your Hiding Place if you turn to God in repentance and by faith accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your own personal Savior. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My Word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24). Then, and only then, will you be safe and secure.
Dear friend, will you trust the Lord Jesus as your Savior today? If you do, you will have a Hiding Place from the judgment and wrath of God. You will also have a Friend who will never leave you or forsake you, One who will help you with the pressures of everyday living. Through walking with God, and serving Jesus Christ, you will experience peace and joy you never thought possible.
You will then be able to say, “Thou art my Hiding Place; Thou shalt preserve me from trouble; Thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance” (Psalm 32:7).

God's Good News In Colors

#MOMT253

A fresh take on the classic "Wordless Book" Gospel presentation.

Full text of tract:
The color GOLD reminds us of Heaven. It also makes us think about God, who lives in Heaven.
The Bible teaches us that God made everything, including you and me.
What does God see when He looks at you? Does He see somebody who makes Him happy?
God looked down from Heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that … did seek God. Psalm 53:2
Because God can see everything we do, He knows us very well.
The Bible says that when God looks at us, He sees that everyone has done bad things.

The color BLACK reminds us of these bad things, which God calls sin. Because God is holy, our sin must be judged and paid for.
Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Psalm 53:3

God loves us so much that He sent Jesus, His only son, to pay for our sin.
The color RED reminds us of when Jesus suffered, and bled, and died on a cross for you and me.
Jesus then rose from the dead, proving that He has won the battle over sin and death.
But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

WHITE makes us think of things that are clean.
The Bible says that we can be clean in God’s sight by admitting that we are sinful, turning to God, and putting our trust in Jesus.
When we do that, He makes us ready for Heaven, and gives us a brand new life to live for Him.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Isaiah 1:18

Living things grow. That’s what GREEN reminds us of. God wants us to grow in our new life.
One very important way we grow is by reading the Bible. Another is by speaking with God in prayer.
God also wants us to grow by helping each other and gathering with other Christians.
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. 1 Peter 2:2

God’s good news is that He loves you and wants you to be with Him forever! Remember the message of each color:
GOLD reminds us of God, who lives in Heaven.
BLACK speaks of how our hearts are dark with sin.
RED tells us about Jesus, who died to set us free.
WHITE shows the purity of new life in Christ.
GREEN is all about growing as a Christian.
When God looks at your heart, does He see the darkness of sin, or does He see that you have been washed clean through Jesus Christ? If you would like to have your sins forgiven, now is the time to turn your heart to God and put your trust in Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
